This duraspace sofa bed pull out review focuses on the DURASPACE 81" L-Shaped Linen Sleeper. It is a sectional couch that converts into a sleeping surface for guests. The two defining specs are its 81-inch overall width and its pull-out bed mechanism. You get an L-shaped configuration that fits into corners. The upholstery is linen fabric over a metal and wooden frame. This design aims to provide both seating and sleeping functions in one piece of furniture. The listing details these core elements clearly for your consideration.
What stands out
- Pull-out sleeper function for overnight guests
- Three hidden storage spaces for blankets and pillows
- Reversible chaise for left or right orientation
- Two USB charging ports and cup holders on armrests
- FSC-Certified wood interior frame
Who it fits
Good fit for
You should consider this sofa if you need a space-saving solution for a small apartment, dorm, or studio. The pull-out bed feature makes it practical for occasional overnight visitors. The reversible chaise allows you to fit the unit into various room layouts. The integrated USB ports are useful if you need to charge devices while relaxing. The hidden storage helps keep small living areas tidy by hiding extra bedding. It suits those who prioritize multi-functionality in their main seating area.
Who should skip it
You might want to look elsewhere if you require a dedicated primary bed rather than a guest sleeper. The pull-out mechanism creates a distinct sleeping surface that may differ from a standard mattress. If you prefer a fixed chaise position, the reversible design adds assembly complexity. The unit weighs 164 pounds, which may be difficult to move through narrow hallways. Also, consider if the linen upholstery meets your durability needs, as it is not a high-performance fabric. Those needing a large, expansive seating area might find the 81-inch width limiting.
Verdict: This sleeper sofa offers practical features like storage and charging ports for small spaces. It is a solid choice for guests and compact living arrangements.
Key specs explained for this sofa
Configuration: L-shaped
This layout features a main seating section with an extended chaise. It fits well into corners or open living areas. You get extra legroom on the chaise side. This shape suits larger rooms better than straight sofas. It allows multiple people to sit comfortably without crowding. Check your room dimensions to ensure the L-shape fits your floor plan.
Overall Width: 81 inches
The total width spans 81 inches across the main seating area. This size accommodates two to three adults comfortably. It is wider than standard two-seaters but narrower than large sectional sets. Measure your doorway and hallways to ensure delivery is possible. This width provides ample sitting space while remaining manageable for most apartments.
Sleeper Function: Pull-out bed
The sofa converts to a bed via a pull-out mechanism. This feature is ideal for hosting overnight guests. You do not need to fold cushions or move furniture. The bed surface is integrated into the sofa base. This mechanism adds versatility to your living space. Ensure you have clearance in front of the sofa to pull out the bed fully.
Upholstery Material: Linen
The fabric is described as linen, which typically offers a breathable and textured surface. This material feels soft to the touch and allows air circulation. It suits buyers who prefer natural-looking textiles. Linen can be durable but may wrinkle over time. Consider this if you want a casual, relaxed aesthetic for your home decor.
Materials, Dimensions, And Layout
The listing describes the upholstery as breathable linen fabric. This material choice suggests a texture that allows air circulation, which may help with comfort during extended sitting. The internal structure relies on a robust combination of metal and wooden components. Notably, the interior frame is made from FSC-Certified wood, indicating a specific sourcing standard for the structural elements. This construction aims to support the pull-out mechanism and the weight of the sleeper function without compromising stability.
In terms of dimensions, the overall width measures 81 inches. The height is listed at 21.3 inches, while the length extends to 51.4 inches. The unit weighs 164 pounds. This mass implies that moving the sofa after placement will require significant effort or assistance. The L-shaped configuration includes a reversible chaise, allowing you to orient the extended seating section to the left or right. This flexibility helps you fit the piece into various room layouts, whether corner-based or open-plan.
According to the listing, the design includes practical storage solutions. There are three hidden compartments suitable for blankets or pillows. The armrests feature two USB charging ports and two cup holders, along with side pockets for additional items. These features integrate technology and utility directly into the frame, reducing the need for external tables or stands in smaller spaces like dorms or studios.
Setup and daily use guide
Delivery arrives in multiple boxes, so you must wait for all components to arrive before beginning assembly. The listing advises patience if items do not ship on the identical day. Once all parts are present, you can construct the frame using the provided FSC-certified wood and metal supports. The reversible chaise allows you to orient the unit to the left or right facing, letting you adapt the layout to your specific room arrangement without complex reconfiguration. Daily use is straightforward. The pull-out mechanism converts the sofa into a bed with a simple motion, making it suitable for overnight guests or use in small apartments and dorms. The 81-inch width provides ample seating space for multiple people. For convenience, two USB charging ports are located on each armrest, ensuring your devices stay powered while you sit. Two cup holders are integrated into the design to keep drinks secure and within reach. Storage is handled through three hidden compartments that fit blankets and pillows, keeping the living area tidy. Two side pockets offer additional space for smaller items like remote controls. The linen upholstery is breathable, which helps maintain comfort during extended sitting sessions. The robust frame supports daily activity, while the weight of 164 pounds suggests stability once assembled. You can adjust the configuration to suit your needs, whether for casual lounging or sleeping arrangements.
Before you buy this sleeper
Owning this DURASPACE sleeper requires planning for its 81-inch footprint. Verify your room has enough clearance for the chaise extension and the bed pull-out mechanism. The linen upholstery breathes well but needs regular vacuuming to remove dust and lint. Use a fabric-safe cleaner for spills, as linen can stain easily. Since the frame includes FSC-certified wood and metal supports, ensure your floor can handle the 164-pound weight without damage. You may want additional throw pillows to enhance comfort, as the design prioritizes function. This model fits well in apartments or dens where space is tight. Compare it with other sectionals in Sectional Sofas by checking seat depth and armrest width. The reversible chaise offers flexibility, but measure your doorway to ensure delivery boxes fit. Keep the storage areas clear for blankets. This practical piece suits those who need guest sleeping space without sacrificing daytime seating.
